Isaac, Aged 7
At two years old, Isaac was diagnosed at the Royal Marsden Hospital with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma. His right adrenal gland was the primary with metastasis in his bone marrow and skull. He was given the Rapid Kojac Chemotherapy protocol and then his right adrenal gland was removed. He then had a stem cell bone marrow transplant. Following this, he had radiotherapy.
He first came to the Society for Complementary Medicine in January 2008. Since then he has been taking Avemar and a full nutritional and herbal programme of supplements and diet management. He is disease free, his urine catecholamines are normal and he leads a happy and healthy life.
Meli, Aged 11
In January 2008, Meli was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. She spent two years and three months having chemotherapy at The Royal Marsden Hospital. Her treatment included Methatrexate, Peg Asparaginase, Vincristine and Dexamethasone.
Her diet has been organise, sugar free, limited dairy, limited red meat, vegetables, fruits, grains, nuts and seeds. We have created a programme of nutritional supplementation based upon the results of her Nutritional Evaluation Test from Genova Diagnostics as well as Avemar to protect her immune system.
We have periodically retested her nutritional status via blood and urine to keep her biochemistry optimised. We monitor her protein digestion and assimilation, detoxification functions including phase 1 and phase 2 and methylation, mitochondrial function, oxidative stress, toxic exposure, antioxidant status, mineral requirements, vitamin requirements, malabsorption and dysbiosis, essential fatty acid metabolism and balance of omega 3 and 6 fatty acids and total trans and saturated fatty acids. WE also monitor her lipid peroxides and intestinal permeability. If any of these systems are out of balance, we rebalance them with nutrients.
Meli is now in remission and her blood tests are normal. She is fully active, in school and leading a normal life.
